ActionNet Email Upgrade
To Actionnet.net email users -
Don't Forget to update your user name when logging in to the new system. You must have: "@actionnet.net" as a part of your whole user name.
(setting changes and actions involved in this migration only affect actionnet.net users and not other current PEAK administered email domains)
Thank you for your continued patronage as a PEAK Internet customer. As part of an ongoing effort to provide quality services for customers, PEAK will be upgrading the email system that is currently providing your service. It is expected that this process will be seamless and your current email and contacts will be preserved. Please note the important access changes in this note:
- PEAK will be migrating from the current mail system to an upgraded mail platform. This upgrade will provide added stability, ease of use, and improved user-interface. The exact date for this transition will be December 2nd, 2009. Your archived mail will be migrated soon after the account transition.
- To access your mail after December 2nd, you must use your complete customer username to log-in. As an example, rather than using “user124,” you must now use “user124@actionnet.net.”
- During this process, all easily exploitable passwords (less than six letters, no special characters,
etc.) will be reset with the appended text originally sent in the notifying email message. After you log-in using this new combination, your password needs to be changed. You may do this by accessing: http://zmail.peak.org/ with your updated account information, clicking on “Preferences,” then “General,” and “Change Password.” Note: weak passwords are being actively exploited by spammers. This step is being taken to prevent the threat of account hijacking and subsequent fraudulent activity.
- Please select a password with at least eight characters that includes digits, uppercase letter, lowercase letters and special characters (such as those above the digit keys on your keyboard).
- General mail settings:
- Email account name: user@actionnet.net
- IMAP or POP server: mail.actionnet.net
- SMTP Server: mail.actionnet.net
If you want to connect to the mail server in a more secure manner, using TLS or SSL, then use http://zmail01.peak.org for IMAP, POP, and SMTP servers so that the security certificate will be properly identified by the mail server. This is highly recommended for users accessing the Internet via a wireless connection and recommended for all email users.

Will you be connecting the new mailsite to our homepage so that we can click on the button and reach our mail? Or will be have to enter vmail.peak.org each time we want to access our mail?
Thanks

I cannot access my email via web. I have not tried at home yet. Is there something I need to know?

Deanna,
You should be able to access your account via webmail. The webmail link on the Actionnet.net website has be re-directed to the new mail server. When you click on it, you should see the “Zimbra” login interface, asking for your username and password.
Remember, here, just like in a traditional email client, your username needs to be typed out as your full email address (all lower-case characters).
Your password will be the newly modified password (with _#ActNet1# added to the end, if your original password didn’t meet our current password requirements.)
If you are still having issues, give us a call so we can double-check the password you are using.

Shirley,
Yes, the link on the ActionNet website for webmail is set to re-direct your web browser to the new webmail login page, https://mail.actionnet.net. If that page gives you SSL errors, you may view the login page directly at https://zmail.peak.org

Why haven’t my address book & archived emails been transfered over? There are only a few contacts showing up.

Lee,
Unfortunately, the two different mail servers in use did not have compatible address book entries that we could migrate. Your contacts from the older actionnet webmail will not migrate to the new Zimbra server.
If you check email using a email client, like Outlook Express, or Mac Mail, your contacts will not be affected by this server change.
To get access to your old contacts list, you can log into the old actionnet webmail client with your web browser at this address:
http://oldmail.actionnet.net
Log in using your actionnet email address, and your PREVIOUS email password. You will be able to view your old contact list.
As far as your older emails not transferring over to the new inbox, please call us regarding this. Our engineers moved as much stored email as they could on the servers, but some accounts we didn’t have password credentials available. Give us a call, and we’ll gather that information from you, and get any messages in your old inbox moved over for you.

All I can say after finally getting a password that would be accepted is that it takes twice as long to get into the mailbox now. Yes, I have dial-up, but it didn’t take that long to open up in the old actionnet. You have made getting the mail terribly inconvenient. So much for progress !

I have been trying to access the spam mail to try and stop emails that have been coming through using a quilt shop’s email address. I have not been able to log on using my user name and the password that was sent to me. I need to access barracuda.
Thanks, Shirley Gilmore
